The PDU is a unit of measurement used to quantify approved learning professional service activities. These units must be related to project management topics that are substantially consistent with the knowledge areas and processes as outlined by the Guide to the PMBOK (Project Management Book of Knowledge).
Certified PMPs must accrue 60 PDUs during each certification cycle (3 years). Effective January, 2002, individuals who are in the process of getting their initial PMP certifications will also be required to complete at least 35 contact hours (PDUs).
